Introduction to Eden Teen Challenge:
Eden T.C. is a non-profitable none governmental organisation dedicated to the prevention, recovery and re-entry to society of people with life controlling problems, like drugs and alcohol. We also house and assist with the education of street children and AIDS orphans. Eden T.C. was founded by Pastor Herman Viljoen and later his wife, Dr. Jana Viljoen, on 17 December 1991, and has since grown to be the biggest rehabilitation and care center in South Africa. We render a free clinic service to the residents of Eden T.C. and to those who cannot afford medical treatment. This service is available at all our centers. Eden T.C. does not get any subsidies or any ongoing financial support from any private companies and is totally dependant on donations. All our staff members are volunteer workers and do not receive any salaries.

We have a world class rehabilitation curriculum consisting of 14 subjects that are lectured over 12 months. We also have community programs that are aimed at the unemployed and illiterate people. Our organisation consists of 5 centers mainly over the Free State area and the Head office is situated in Virginia. The other centers are in Bloemfontein, where we take care of the mentally impaired. Also in Bloemspruit where we have our agricultural center that supplies us with vegetables. The other centers are in Kroonstad, where we work closely with the prison and in Bethlehem we have our children’s ministry. The residents includes people from all races and age – street children, terminally ill patients, people in wheelchairs, mentally ill patients, abandoned babies, battered woman, those addicted to drugs, alcohol, etc, or any person that is destitute for some reason. At the moment we only form a small part of Global teen Challenge which consists of 1060 centers in all different countries throughout the world. In the Eden T.C. centers we are presently doing approximately 2000 meals/day which is totally free to the residents in the program as is the accommodation, clothing, medical care, physiological care, spiritual care and any program they might be taking part in. Furthermore we run a free pre-school facility for those who cannot afford to pay for their children in such a facility.

If you are aware of anybody with any of the above problems who might be needing help, please feel free to contact one of our centers.

May God bless you all.

Pastor Herman Viljoen
